ArenaNet shows us how they made the first Guild Wars 2 cinematic. After viewing the storyboard they turn them into an animatic. Once that is complete the developers need to approve it and then its passed to the illustrators. Finally, it gets turned into the amazing cut-scenes you see in game. All cut-scenes in game are in real-time and not pre-rendered! This means any weapons or armor you have will be brought into the cut-scenes.
Here is a few videos ArenaNet put out on their YouTube page. As you can imagine the art is stunning! Their art designers are some of the most talented in the industry. We go behind the scenes with the vocal cast of the Races of Tyria video! The cast includes actors such as Troy Baker, as none other than our own Logan Thackeray of Divinity's Reach, Steve Blum, as Rytlock Brimstone of the Black Citadel, Felicia Day, as the feisty Zojja of Rata Sum, and Kari Wahlgren, as Caithe of the Firstborn. For some reason, we never got to see who Eir's voice actor was.
In this short documentary, ArenaNet let's us get an in-dept look at house various sound effects are put into the game. They show how lots of the sound effects have many randomized filters to ensure realistic sounds are consistently unique. They don't talk about the voice acting or music in the game, but it's still a good, quick look at how all of the sound effects and ambient sounds come together.
ArenaNet decided to show off their fancy new office, more of a shrine, to key Guild Wars community members. To their surprise, the fans were asked to record some audio work for Guild Wars 2. They also got their hands dirty on a little bit of play time with the first revealed dungeon: Ascalonian Catacombs. This little documentary shows us a little bit of how much fun they had. Lucky buggers.
During the race week of Sylvari, where they decided to finally reveal the redesigned plant-like race, ArenaNet published this great documentary.
